"Becoming mature means learning to accept what you cannot change, facing unresolved sorrows and learning to love life as it really happens, not as you would have it happen." MS, Jan 1st, 12.

aku agak terpempan kejap bila baca this phrase from MS' facebook status. someone just put everything into one sentence of what im trying achieve this year. i'll be 22, another year older, hopefully wiser InsyaAllah. 10 things i hope to improve this year:

1. study and academic wise; im gonna do a review before lecture, focus during lecture, revise after lecture, search for clinical relevance. make a point to see or at least email lecturers if i don't understand. ask if i dont know. janganla bodoh sombong. malu bertanyak sesat jalan! be more serious on medicine. in 3 to 4 years to come, i'll be dealing with sick people, whom well-being is in my hand (dengan bantuan dan izin Allah). that's a huge responsibility.

2. istiqamah dgn yg apa diamalkan sekarang. perbanyakkan amal yang lain. tambahkan ilmu agama. jauhi dan elakkan perkara yg mendekati dosa. dah tiba masa utk berkongsi. jgn kelak di padang Mahsyar, kita disalahkan kerana tidak menyebarkan apa yg kita tahu. hidup sebagai hamba dan khalifah.

3. baca buku non-academic. sigek buku sebulan. paling2 pun sigek buku in 2 months. perlu jadi org yg berilmiah dan berpengetahuan luas. bukan sekadar cakap tin kosong.

4. get organized: set a target for this sem and this year. jot down every single thing yg perlu dipolah waima benda2 simple like beli toiletteries, put a dateline to it. say goodbye to procrastination! 

5. have a greater control of my own emotion. try to accept people as they are. because you yourself are not perfect. jgn biar kejahatan mengaburi kebaikan. learn how to control my OCD. live life as it is, enjoy every second. 

6. jadi kawan yg baik. they are always there for me. did i do the same? it's time to take care of others. 

7. stop thinking or putting much hope on lovey-dovey life. mun ada jodoh adalah. unless im ready to be married, don't even bother to dwell in it yet. to future soul mate, be a man, approach my wali, not me. impress my family, my cousins, my good friends. if they don't like you, then i don't like you too. show me you worth the spot in my life. show me i can trust you to be my Imam. 

8. ambil tahu tentang perkembangan semasa. dalam negara, luar negara, negara2 Islam. politik. as much as i want to avoid this, i have reached the age to vote. it's an amanah & tanggungjawab yg perlu diselesaikan.

9. be a good daughter and sister. love them while they are around. say what you wish to say. don't live in regret for not saying or doing sth which u wish u did.

10. this number 10 is simply a conclusion. all i want for this year and years to come is to be a matured person.
