Kepercayaan tradisi

Ameen, sucking his toes while his Abi wasn't looking.

Have you heard of kepercayaan turun-temurun whereby if a baby bites his/her toes, it means he/she is going to have adik soon? Well, my SIL is expecting a new baby to pop out by end of January next year! But im not sure if that kepercayaan is true or not.

When it comes to petua/kepercayaan tradisi, i always ask my mom why like that? What's the rational behind it? Tapi mesti my mom will say "Jangan banyak tanyak . Ekot jak sia nok dipadah org tua." i bet she don't know the reason too haha.

But i must admit, however irrational some of the kepercayaan/tradisi are, they's always a hidden reason behind it and that we shouldn't disregard them in this otherwise modernized world.

i remember when i was in primary one, i was playing batu seremban during senja time. My mum keep telling me to stop playing because it's already senja. But i don't care, thinking it's so ridiculous to associate senja time with playing batu seremban (oh btw memang dari kecik dah degil kepala batu lol). Not long after, i went to the kitchen to get some drink but end up terpecahkan gelas. And of course my mom said "See? i told you to stop playing batu seremban." Well that could be completely unrelated event, but it could also be the reason behind the taboo as well.

i actually wish to learn more petua/kepercayaan tradisional. i think sangatlah sayang if we are modernized but we forget our roots. Apalah gunanya kita letak bangsa kita dalam IC tapi kita hampir lupa apa yang mendefinisikan bangsa itu sendiri, apa intipati dalam sesebuah bangsa.

kurkurkur feeling a bit patriotic when it comes to remembering our roots hehe.
