Akhlak

Today our group finally had a tutorial session with Dr. Prabhu, a consultant surgeon from PGH. It was so many weeks since his last session, so today's tuto is definitely not-to-be-missed! Even the HOs in PGH like his working and teaching style. Anyway, his take home message for today was:

"Having little knowledge is far more dangerous than not having knowledge at all."

In Medicine, when people ask you question, the answer is either yes or no. There's no room for 'agak-agak' or 'i think...'. Patient can die if you go 'agak-agak' stuffs. Which means, i need to strengthen my basics! Successful people continue learning forever, unsuccessful people thinks they know it all. Dear anyone, if i ever complain anything about Medicine, please bang my head with the sphygmomanometer box and remind me again on why i entered Medical School.

On the other hand, after lecture today, i lingered around the car park area trying to find someone who can drop me home. I can usually walk back, which takes about 10-15 minutes (mind you, this is Malaysia; in Dublin i can walk for 40 minutes no problem at all). But there were so many people playing football in the field (which i need to cross in order to get back home) and there were unusual traffic since everyone rushed to Penang bridge because tomorrow is Wesak holiday. So i dare not walk alone (all my housemates have gone back to their hometown btw).

So at first i asked a group of Muslim Malay friends if they can drop me home (not that i'm complaining but among them are certain people who would only come talk to me when they need certain things). They say they are heading somewhere else for food and so couldn't help me. It's okay then, the traffic was horrible, they must have wanted to get out quick.

So i approached another group of friends, all are Chinese/Bumiputera Christians. They too are heading out to grab some food. But they offered me to join them instead. I told them i can't because im going out as well later that night. I told them it's ok then, i think i'll just walk home. But they said; "Eh don't walk la. It's dangerous. It's ok, we can drop you first, then we go makan."

MasyaAllah. These days i've seen how the akhlak of my non-Muslim friends are far more beautiful than my akhlak, more beautiful than my fellow Muslim brothers' and sisters' akhlak. It's a shame you know. As a Muslim, it is one of our duty to portray and deliver the goodness in our deen, that includes being a good human being not only to Muslims but also to every living soul on earth.

If only they are granted with hidayah to see the beauty of this deen. Ameen.
