Unresolved pain

Attended a seminar on autism last weekend.
A very good exposure on the whole process from diagnosing to referral for therapy and intervention to adaptation.
Even as medical officer, this is not something that is easy to tackle especially with only minute exposure on this topic in medical school.

Management of autism is largely parent-dependent. In autism, parents or caretaker are actually the child's main therapist - parent led intervention as they name it. Intervention and 'treatment' for autism are supposed to be a continuous process and not only when they child comes for occupational therapy which is ~monthly basis at best? Hence parents play major role to continue the intervention at home.

So I was asking a friend next to me, what if the character of the parents are rigid and they themselves are struggling to resolve internal issues? Then, this slide came up.

'Unresolved pain in parent's past'. Among the few reasons I am still not ready to venture into parenthood.
